It was a wonderful surprise to have my portrait, “Pualani,” receive the First Place honor at the Elements Exhibit in Honolulu this evening. Elements is one of the largest juried photo exhibits in Hawaii, and this year 14 photographers were chosen by Judge Ed Greevy, the noted documentary photographer, to participate in the exhibit.

Six of my photos were selected for inclusion in the show, including two large portraits, “Pualani” anad “Anahila.” All photos are from my documentary series on the life of a hula halau.

The Elements exhibit is on through July 25, 2014. It is on display on the second floor lobby exhibition space at the Pauahi Tower, which is located at the corner of Bishop Street and South Hotel Street in downtown Honolulu.
